"Women and Church: Women Pastors / Preachers?" by Pastor Peter Thomas

WOMEN  AND  CHURCH

WOMEN  PASTORS  /  PREACHERS?

1 Timothy 2:11-14

11 - Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.

12 - But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.

The reason Apostle Paul gives for this prohibition is stated in verses 13 and 14.

13 - For Adam was first formed, then Eve.

14 - And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.

No Scripture is of any private interpretation.  Every woman that resists this Scripture, you’ve got the wrong spirit and the Truth of God is not in you.  GOD never called and ordained a woman to preach and HE never will.

If any woman has in her mind that she is authorized to preach the Gospel, she is sadly mistaking.  Don't disobey God.  Women are significant.  I would not be part of any ministry without women being a part of it.  However, every one of us must be in our respective order.  There is no such thing in Scriptures as women preachers.  At the same token, not every man is a preacher.  That argument, that a woman should be a preacher – that doctrine is inferior to the Word of God.  There are no women preachers recorded in the Bible.  Every so  called  “woman  Pastor, Apostle, Bishop and Evangelist” must relinquish their ordination credentials and repent to be in right standing with God.

Additionally, in the New Testament:

1 Corinthians 14:34-35

34 - Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law.

35 - And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.

If a woman is not married or is married to an unsaved husband, she is still required by the Scriptures to keep silence in the churches (no didactic discourse, i.e.: no preaching, no pastoring).  For the unsaved husband, the saved wife may not be able to ask certain questions of doctrine to the husband, however, she can then go to God in prayer.

GODLY  WOMEN

1 Timothy 2:9-10

9 - In like manner also, that women adorn themselves in modest apparel, with shamefacedness and sobriety; not with broided hair, or gold, or pearls, or costly array;

10 - But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.

When a woman is God fearing, she will honor God in all that he says.  Just obey God!  If a person professes to be a Christian, that means that such an individual follows the commandments of Christ.  There is an impudent look on many women today.  Their faces do not reflect their natural beauty.  They are bedecked with jewelry and body piercing.  God will not accept such false worship.  Cosmetology  and the Church cannot coexist.  Why?  Because it is against the Spirit of God and the Spirit of God is against Cosmetology.  If a person wants to sin, they will find excuses and make concessions, but the Word of God does not change to suit our flesh.  The Apostle Peter talks of a humility that is lacking in many women today.  Examine carefully his words in 1st Peter chapter 3, verses 3-5.

1 Peter 3:3-5

3 - Whose adorning let it not be that outward adorning of plaiting the hair, and of wearing of gold, or of putting on of apparel;

4 - But let it be the hidden man of the heart, in that which is not corruptible, even the ornament of a meek and quiet spirit, which is in the sight of God of great price.

5 - For after this manner in the old time the holy women also, who trusted in God, adorned themselves, being in subjection unto their own husbands:

No jewelry is to be worn by the honest Child of God.  The Holy Ghost is against hair-dos.  The Holy Ghost is against the beauty parlor.  The beauty salon and the work of the manicurist is condemned by God Almighty.  Painting of one's face and nails cannot be supported as being a person who loves God.  Why?  Jesus said, "If ye love me, keep my commandments."

Praise the Lord.  Regarding your concern of if there is not a man around, God's word does not say that, and no place in Scripture authorizes the woman to preach or rule over the man.  If one has to violate any verse of the Bible in order to achieve any goal, that person is in error and in trouble with God.  According to Paul, this is for all churches everywhere [1 Corinthians 11:16, we have no such custom].

When God's Pastor "watches over God's people", he  ( not  she )  watches over their souls, "for they watch for your souls" [Hebrews 13:17].  Which also means that they are going to preach in truth.

Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law [1 Corinthians 14:34].  She cannot "bring forth the word", even "in certain ways", i.e: if it becomes didactic discourse (like any type of preaching or pastoring).

Consider what Paul said in 1 Timothy 3:1-2.

1 - This is a true saying, if a man desire the office of a  bishop,  he  desireth a good work.

2 - A  bishop  then must be blameless,  the  husband   of  one  wife,  vigilant, sober, of good behaviour, given to hospitality, apt to teach;

So, you see, this precludes a woman from being a bishop.  The Bible bishop is a  he,  not  she.

Also, 2 Timothy 2:1-2, 6-7, Paul was writing unto Timothy, his son in the faith:

1 - Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus.

2 - And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same  commit  thou  to  faithful  men,  who  shall  be  able  to  teach  others  also.

6 – The  husbandman  that laboureth must be first partaker of the fruits.

7 - Consider what I say; and the Lord give thee understanding in all things.

Titus 1:4-7

4 - To Titus, mine own son after the common faith: Grace, mercy, and peace, from God the Father and the Lord Jesus Christ our Saviour.

5 - For this cause left I thee in Crete, that thou shouldest set in order the things that are wanting, and  ordain  elders  in  every  city,  as  I  had  appointed  thee:

6 - If any be blameless, the  husband  of one wife, having faithful children not accused of riot or unruly.

7 - For  a  bishop  must be blameless, as the steward of God; not selfwilled, not soon angry, not given to wine, no striker, not given to filthy lucre;

In answer to the question, “So, what is the role of the woman in the church?”, in the normal order of occurrence, the woman’s role in the church is to get married; be a good wife to her husband; bear children; and be keepers of the home (manager of the home).  The older women are to teach the younger women.  Thus, if the younger women marry and the older women teach the younger women, then where is there any place scripturally for a woman to preach or lead a church?  It is simply not there.  Read scriptural references below.

Titus 2:3-5

3 - The aged women likewise, that they be in behaviour as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;

4 - That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,

5 - To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.

The gospel which was preached of Apostle Paul is not after man, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ [Galatians 1:11-12], and he also said, "the things I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord" [1 Corinthians 14:37].

Also, if a man is sitting under a woman preacher, this is against the Holy Ghost and the Holy Ghost is against that: "As for my people, children are their oppressors, and women rule over them.  O my people, they which lead thee cause thee to err, and destroy the way of thy paths" [Isaiah 3:12].

You would do well to take heed to what is written.  This is for churches everywhere.

1 Corinthians 11:16

But if any man seem to be contentious, we have no such custom, neither the churches of God.

If you are in a church that practices falsehood, you are deceived and on your way to eternal destruction.  The Bible says, "Wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord" [2 Corinthians 6:17].  That type of church is not the church that Jesus Christ set up.  It takes great courage to obey God.

All scripture references are taken from the King James Version (KJV).

Hope this helps.  I wouldn’t fight with God who is the Lord Jesus Christ.  For your consideration.
